Denisa Smetanová je česká malířka, jejíž tvorba se soustředí na napětí mezi realitou a jejím subjektivním vnímáním. Prostřednictvím světla, stínu a rozšířeného barevného spektra proměňuje konkrétní motiv v obrazovou metaforu, která osciluje mezi figurativností a abstrahujícím gestem.
V posledních letech se věnuje motivu flóry, nikoli jako dekorativnímu prvku, ale jako prostoru křehkosti, intenzity a vnitřního pohybu. Její malba je charakteristická posunem měřítka, důrazem na detail a vrstvenou, materiálově bohatou strukturou.
Fotografie představuje paralelní linii její tvorby – médium pozorování a fragmentu. Vzniká často během cest a vstupuje do tichého dialogu s malířskou prací.
